10 logo design mistakes that make your brand invisible

Your business isn’t bad – people just don’t notice it. Often the reason is a logo made in a hurry or “like everyone else’s”. Here are the 10 mistakes we see most often when clients come to us for a rebrand.

Mistakes 1–5: design

Too much detail. Shadows, gradients and tiny elements turn into a blur on an avatar or a pen.
Unreadable font. If the name can’t be read in a second, it won’t be remembered.
Copying a competitor. Customers mix you up and go to the brand they already know.
Trendy effects. Trends pass in a year; a logo should last for years.
A mark unrelated to the business. A pretty picture without meaning doesn’t sell.

Mistakes 6–10: process and files

No vector file. A PNG or JPG logo can’t be enlarged for a sign. Here is which files you need.
Not tested on real items. It looks good on screen but not on a dark facade or kraft bag.
No brief. Without a clear task the designer guesses.
Free logo generators. Template marks are used by thousands of companies.
No rights to the logo. Without transferred rights, trademark registration can be a problem.
